Ashley Park Shares Her Hospitalization Journey, Tonsillitis Turns Into Critical Septic Shock, and She Assures, 'I’m Healing'

Ashley Park started her year with a major health emergency.

Ashley Park began the new year facing a major health crisis. On Friday, the 32-year-old actress shared a series of photos on Instagram, revealing that she had been hospitalized and was in the intensive care unit due to a "critical septic shock."

Reflecting on the first few weeks of 2024, Park expressed her gratitude in the post. While on holiday in December and into the New Year, what initially seemed like tonsillitis escalated into critical septic shock, affecting several of her organs. Despite initial concerns, she expressed thankfulness that her health had improved.

Septic shock is a severe medical condition where an infection in the body leads to dangerously low blood pressure and organ failure due to sepsis, as per the Mayo Clinic.

A source informed PEOPLE that Park was very ill but is slowly recovering. The actress emphasized her gratitude for Paul Forman, her costar from "Emily in Paris," who stood by her "unconditionally" throughout the health scare. Although the two were seen holding hands in October, they haven't publicly commented on the nature of their relationship.

Park credited Forman with calming her fears and supporting her through a series of medical challenges, including ambulances, foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, ER visits, scans, tests, injections, pain, and confusion, all while being far from familiar faces.

Expressing her love for Forman, Park also thanked the medical professionals who worked tirelessly, particularly the JoaliBeing team, who provided language translations and crucial support. She extended infinite thanks to her personal support team at home, who managed insurance calls and stayed connected with Forman, her parents, and doctors at all hours.

Despite being in the recovery phase, Park hesitated to share the news, acknowledging she is still in the midst of recovery but assured her followers that she is safely on the other side of the worst.

In the comments section, fans and fellow stars showered Park with well wishes. Michael Urie expressed sympathy, saying he was glad she got through the worst, while Natasha Bedingfield acknowledged the terrifying experience and praised medical professionals. Lily Collins, Park's "Emily in Paris" costar, shared her deep emotions, expressing love for Park and gratitude for Forman's unwavering support.

The actress concluded her post by assuring everyone that she is healing and will be okay, expressing her love for all her well-wishers. The outpouring of support from friends and fans showcases the community rallying around Ashley Park during her recovery journey.
